Reading your column every Sunday is like sitting down and chatting with an old friend. My first grandchild is due early next month so I have especially enjoyed any and all references to that event. Congratulations.

I just wanted to let you know how much I LOVE your column. It is published in the Sunday edition of the Daily Citizen in Dalton, GA. Reading your column is always the highlight of the paper & one that I would read first if I were only able to read one thing. Your stories are always so heart warming and things that everyone can relate to. Please don't EVER stop writing!!

We read your column in the Redding searchlight and get great pleasure in it. The paper is no longer available in our area but when we do go town Redding we try to get a paper if yourcolumn is in it. You do a great job and are very much appreciated. Thanks

So enjoyed your column about "making room for family in your house"! I think we have lost the art of having not only family but company to our homes these days. It brought back precious memories of when my cousins, aunts & uncles would come and how us kids always slept on sleeping bags on the floor. (Now our kids wouldn't even accept the horror of sleeping on something besides a bed!) I read the article to my husband - brought tears to his eyes too. Thank you for reminding me not to get "frazzled" when I have unexpected company coming with hort notice to just enjoy the moment!!

Ms. Randall: My mother recommended your column to me last spring and I have been reading it ever since in the Winston-Salem, NC Journal. It is truly wonderful and I always enjoy it. Shortly after I started reading your column you wrote one with advice for your daughter on her wedding day. It was so perfect that I would like to read it to my nephew next weekend on the occasion of his marriage and give him a copy. If this is objectionable, please e-mail me and I will refrain from doing so. I am very conscious of copyright laws and while this is probably not a violation, I would prefer to have your consent. Many thanks.

Ms Randall, I loved your column in Sunday's Abilene Reporter News. I am definitely a Lyle Lovett fan, but you really hit the jackpot with your comments about the coming grandson. I'm one generation older than you, and I'm expecting a great-granddaughter in mid-September. I had just gotten off Facebook, looking at new pictures of Madilyn posted by her mother, when I picked up the paper with your column. The sentiments you expressed were almost exactly the same as those I had just told Maddie's mother. It is so thrilling to be a part of this child's life-before-birth, and makes me so aware of what I missed with my own four children in the days before sonograms, etc. Thanks for a wonderful change in atmosphere and thinking in these days of political upheaval. As they say, I needed that!!

Hi Sharon ~ Thank you for talking about clotheslines and hands. Spent many hours thinking, sorting, praying and folding in my backyard. Saved my sanity many times, that is for sure!! A dear friend shared with me that she always hated her hands....until the day that she realized her dear mama's hands were attached to her arms. Brings her a great deal of joy. Thanks again for sharing.

Just finished "grandmother-to-be..". First time I saw Lyle was at a Ricki Lee Jones concert - I was hooked! Joshua Judges Ruth-a favorite- Skinny Legs and Penguins are family sing-along songs in our home! Your column is wonderful. It frequently mirrors our own family - your column and the comic "zits"! Blessings and peace to you and your loved ones!

Hello, Just read your column about missing Lyle's concert. Oh I know... Nice to hear my words coming out of someone else - it's not craziness, it's Lyle! To be truthful though, I can't imagine anything keeping me from a Lyle concert. Ironically, in 2004 I had 2 Lyle concerts to choose from in Michigan (early days, before I went to all of them). Luckily I chose the one the week before my dad died. Guess that would have kept me at home as I gave the eulogy. Enjoyed your writing and sharing the love of Lyle. Sara
